1st

ahaṃ
(ahaṃ asmi/amhi – I am)

mayaṃ, amhe
(mayaṃ asma/amha)

2nd

tvaṃ, tuvaṃ
 (tuvaṃ/tvaṃ asi – you are)

tumhe
(tumhe attha – you are)

3rd

so, sā [pron.; f]
(so/sā atthi – he/she is)

te
(te santi – they are)

(a) Translate into English

Pāḷi

English

Root + Suffix (conj. sign) + termination

So kasati.

He ploughs.

He is ploughing.

√kas + a + ti

Mayaṃ sayāma.

We lie down.

we are lying down

√sī + a > saya + ma > sayā + ma

Ahaṃ phusāmi.

I touch.

√phus + a + mi > phusā + mi

Te vapanti.

They sow.

√vap + a + nti

Tumhe passatha.

You see.

√dis > pass + a + tha

 

So passati.

He sees.

√dis > pass + a + ti

Ahaṃ cintemi.

I think.

√cint + e + mi

Tumhe ghāyatha.

You smell.

√ghā + ya + tha

Te brūvanti.

They say.

√brū (v)  + anti

So hanti.

He kills.

√han + ti

Mayaṃ ema.

Amhe ema.

We come.

Tumhe etha.

You come.

(b) Translate into Pali
